This tangy, spicy and delicious dish forms an integral part of a hearty lunchtime menu in Punjab.


Ingredients
500 grams of ChannaClick to find more about Channa (boiled)
1 tsp tumeric
1 tsp corriander powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp cholay masala (shan) 250/300 grams of Red lentilClick to find more about lentil
4/5 boiled hard eggs
2 tomatoes
1 medium onionClick to find more about onion
1/2 gheeClick to find more about ghee/oil
1 tsp GingerClick to find more about Ginger/GarlicClick to find more about Garlic

Garnish :
Chopped Corriander leaves
Green Chilles


Preparation
Heat up oil in pot add the gheeClick to find more about ghee/oil and heat it up throw in some onions and fry it until golden brown, add gingerClick to find more about ginger, garlicClick to find more about garlic, tomatoes straight after that give it a good mix and now mix the boiled chanaClick to find more about chana to it.
Let it smeamer for abt 10 mins and than add all the spices as above, after that add 3 cup of water and let it boil and as soon as cholay starts boiling start slowing putting the washed red lentils and mix it well, decrease heat to low heat and it cook in low heat for around 25 mins or so until it has cooked.
Another small pot put in 4/5 eggs and boil it it hard, and after the cholay is cooked cut the eggs in half and put it in the cholay!
Enjoy with naan or roti !

I do not understand why red lentil is needed in the above recipe?It is Channa recipe; why is masoor needed in this recipe?
